Kids are doing great in school... Canberra and Zander are going to a pre-school Tues/Thurs for only 2 1/2 hours and they LOVE IT! Twins are 9 months old.. Gavin is walking, Camia is standing and crawling but no walking yet. Canberra LOVES ballet and karate, she is turning 5 November 1st! Big girl. Zander is potty trained now at 3 1/2 years old ALL ON HIS OWN whew! Shane and Seth are doing great in karate. Shane will get his black belt in February. Me, I'm just working out when I can TURBO JAM. It makes working out fun. I've lost 12 lbs in the last 3 months. Not the best but I will take it! Well... enjoy the pics!

Been a while

Quickly... Twins are almost 5 months! 4 month Gavin was 14.15 pounds and 24 1/2 inches tall. Gavin is rolling all over the place. As soon as you put him on his back he is rolled over. He is also sleeping through the night. 4 month Camia was 14.6 pounds and 24 1/2 inches tall and is rolling and talking and such a happy girl in the mornings. They both are eating baby food and LOVE it. They take short naps in the morning and a longer one in the afternoon. Then a short one in the late afternoon and sleep through the night a good 10+ hours! Whew! Shane LOVES to paint, Seth LOVES rocks, Canberra LOVES her babies and LOVES ballet, Zander LOVES to help me with the babies. He is also attempting to potty train but it's taking a while. Me, I'm living one day at a time. Enjoying sleeping through the night. Trying to get some kind of schedule with 6 kids during the summer. Here are some recent pictures. Enjoy.

Pictures

Valentine's Day! Gavin and Camia's first Sunday at church.

6 kids...Oh! My! And they are all mine.

They were both crying and so I put them together in the bassinet and they stopped and fell asleep... for about 5 min.
Happy together and NOT being held... this is a rare picture.

This is the last time they will both be in the swing together...

My BIG helper!

Holding Gavin isn't enough... she wants BOTH of them! And yes, they slept there for almost an hour!

She's not the only one that likes to help out... Zander can be a big help too.

My Grandparents newest GREAT Grandchildren for 2009 and 2010... Macey, Avyn, Gavin, Camia...

The STORY

Here I go… an attempt to give details before I FORGET!

Weeks 37 and 38 of pregnancy were not that bad really. I COULD have gone full term with minor discomfort. But I gladly took the 38 week inducing! It was hard to sleep and get comfortable, but that was it really.

January 17th was the day to go in at 7:30am. I took my shower, got my bags… that have been ready since OCTOBER! Haha. Who would have thought I’d go to 38 weeks. Daniel dropped me off at the hospital and I said my I LOVE YOU’S to the kids. Daniel went back home to get the kids ready for church. My parents came and picked them up to take them to church while Daniel came to the hospital.

In the mean time they were prepping me for a C-Section IF NEEDED. I got my IV… which the nurse did an amazing job! She put it on the SIDE of my arm rather than on top. It was GREAT! At 12:00 I got the sono done to find out where the babies were. Camia was vertex (head down) and Gavin was transverse (sideways above her). Here is a picture although Camia was NOT breech. I just couldn’t find a picture with a transverse baby on top and a vertex baby under.

After they got the positioning of the babies they broke my water. I was 75% face. At 12:30 they gave my epidural, which didn’t work! NOT COOL. The anesthesiologist went into another delivery that ended up getting stuck in the OR. 2:45 I got the next epidural by a different doctor that was called in just to do mine. Yah… water broken at 12:00 and NO WORKING epidural!! All you moms out there KNOW how painful the contractions get once the water is broken! I was getting worried by now that NOTHING was going to work for my pain. The second epidural wasn’t working very quickly so they gave me another injection at 3:20. It wasn’t until 3:30pm that I didn’t have any pain at all! I was then 5cm along.

At 5:00 I was 7cm and 100% face. Once again… my epidural decided to STOP working. SO MUCH PAIN! So I got more meds. At 5:25 I was 8cm.

At 6:00pm I was 9.5cm and they got us all suited up for the OR. I talked to my doctor several times about the C-Section. I told her if I get the point where they may have to have an emergency C-Section to get Gavin out BECAUSE I can’t push hard enough or something on my end to let me know so I can really push with all I have so I don’t have to have a C-Section.

We left for the OR at 6:30. We got there and everyone was getting prepped and all the things ready. They had me do a little push and then 2 pushes later Camia Star Basham was born at 6:52pm at 6lbs 13oz 19” long. It felt so good when she came out. I just wanted to sleep! I heard her cry and just flat out balled my brains out! I LOVE the cry of a new baby!

Because Gavin was transverse he just fell right into place. Thank goodness. It took a lot longer to get him out because he had to go through the process of going through the birth canal. But I was pushing pushing pushing until really, I felt like I wasn’t pushing correctly anymore! I had NO strength. His heart rate kept falling with every push and then would go back up again… until the one push his heart rate went down really really far and I totally freaked out. My doctor looked at me and said… remember our conversation about “that push”… NOW is the time to push THAT PUSH! Freak out man! I pushed so hard I thought I was about to pass out! 7:11pm Gavin Knightly Basham was born at 5lbs 15oz 18” long. Oh man. I just melted into the bed. I was EXHAUSTED after the hours of no working epidural or pain medicines and then delivering 2 babies!

I didn’t get to see my babies until after I was stitched up and I was wheeled back to my room. I had a minor 1st degree tear, couldn’t complain about that one! Camia has a few very minor issues. Because of her position for so long, her little head had formed more to one side than that other. Which also caused something called Right Torticollis. The tendons on her right side didn’t get to grow with her because her head was tilted in the womb. So we have to massage and stretch it for several months so it can stretch out. She will probably always have a little tilt to the right because of this. But it’s not as bad as it could be. Hopefully the shape of her head will form back in time. It’s not bad at all but it is noticeable. Other than that we have 2 healthy twins!

I will type more about how the first month has gone another day J

But SOON I promise you will get all the details of delivery. There is a lot of info to tell so check back in a day or so! For now, enjoy these pictures of our newest family members!
